How to use Sceptile against Red
- Save Sceptile for Pikachu, Blastoise — those are the one-on-one trades it wins on paper.
- Avoid leaving it in against Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard; switch to a teammate that covers them (see below).
- Venusaur's Sludge Bomb is super effective on Sceptile (84–99%), so don't switch it in on that attack.
- Charizard's Flamethrower is super effective on Sceptile (123–145%), so don't switch it in on that attack.
- Blastoise's Ice Beam is super effective on Sceptile (64–75%), so don't switch it in on that attack.
- It beats Red's Pikachu lead: Leaf Blade does 104–123% and it moves first.
