Today's six: Metagross, Donphan, Houndoom, Gyarados, Alakazam, Ludicolo. Matchup rating: Tough (6/6 of Red's Pokémon have a clean answer). Play Daily Red ↗
Best lead: Donphan
Red always opens with Pikachu (Light Ball, Thunderbolt / Thunder / Iron Tail / Quick Attack). Donphan's Earthquake does about 393–462% to Pikachu, while Pikachu's best hit back (Iron Tail) does about 10–12%; Pikachu is faster, so expect to take one hit.

General tips for beating Red
- Switching costs a turn but saves a Pokémon you need later. Bring the counter in on a resisted hit when you can.
- Snorlax has the most HP (524) and Leftovers. Hit it with your strongest physical or Fighting move and don't trade slowly.
- Charizard takes 4× from Rock and 2× from Water and Electric; Blastoise is weak to Electric and Grass.
- Espeon is fast with high Special Attack. Dark, Ghost and Bug moves are your best answers.
